Mainly Music – Tuesdays during School Term – Heart Church Roma

Mainly MusicMainly Music is a fun music session for families with young children to enjoy together and for children to grow developmentally.

If you delight in the fun and learning of songs and rhyme, than you will love mainly music.

Held every Tuesday during the school term from 10am. $5 p/child or $10 p/family (2+children)

Our music session will start at 10am. Babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and parents will be treated to music and story, activity and interaction, structured and unstructured fun. Each session is designed for delight as you participate together. You’ll experience a rich learning environment.

Roma Toy Library – 4th Thursday of Each Month

Roma Toy Library

Roma Toy Library2

We will be open from 9-11am on the fourth Thursday of every month at the Church of Christ, 119 Currey St, Roma. Membership is free and families can borrow 3 sets of toys per month. Come and enjoy!

The Roma Toy Library, offers families of all income levels free access to a library of high-quality educational toys on loan to children aged 0-5 years.

We accept donations of good used toys, ranging from wooden toys to outdoor gross motor toys. Categories include sand play, water play, musical play, pretend play, pretend play (eg animal figurines, doll houses, dress up clothes, pretend food), outdoor gross motor play (eg tricycles, see-saws, skipping rope), fine motor play (eg threading wooden beads, wooden blocks), play with words (eg finger puppets, themed puzzles).

General guidelines for donated toys:

  1. Favour natural materials where possible. These are often more durable than plastic and provide a more varied tactile experience for children.
  2. Toys must durable enough (i.e. of high enough quality) to withstand repeated use by multiple families over the years.
  3. Favour toys that are ‘passive’ and allow the child to play actively. This means usually avoiding electronic or battery-operated toys.

Monetary donations can also be made at https://www.gofundme.com/roma-toy-library.

If you can help with any of the above, we would be so grateful! Please contact Nat Cooksley on 0448177797 or on the Roma Toy Library Facebook page.

Maranoa Midwifery Group Practice

Local women and their families who are expecting a baby are eligible for free maternity care provided through the Maranoa Midwifery Group Practice, based at the Roma Hospital Maternity Unit. This care includes antenatal appointments, labour and birth, elective caesareans, antenatal classes, and postnatal home visits. The team is made up of 8 midwives, backed by 2 SMO obstetric doctors and the specialist FOG service. Women are encouraged to ‘book in’ with the midwives around 10-14 weeks. Each woman has a primary midwife who will provide most of their care, so that you have a ‘familiar’ face as you go through your pregnancy. Regardless of where you plan to birth your baby (Roma or away), all pregnant women in the area are encouraged to book in with the midwives in case unexpected or emergency care is needed. Women may also choose to have just antenatal or just postnatal visits if that is what suits their family. The midwives run outreach clinics in Injune, Mitchell and Surat, and also visit women at home in Dulacca, Wallumbilla and Yuleba.

The phone number for the maternity service is 4624 2736 – please phone for more information, or to organise a booking in appointment.
