191115: Active Clubs Program – Funding for clubs – closes 15th November

Funding boost equips local clubs to get Queenslanders active

The Palaszczuk Government is inviting community sport and recreation clubs to apply for funding of up to $2,000 to help pay for equipment and training that encourages participation.

Minister for Sport Mick de Brenni said a total of $5 million is available over three years under the Active Clubs program to support quality physical activity experiences for Queenslanders.

Active Clubs is a key element of the Palaszczuk Government’s $1.3 billion plan to Activate! Queensland,” said Mr de Brenni.

“We will be backing around 1,000 Queensland organisations this year alone, by helping with the costs of essential equipment like bats and balls, or through training and support for coaches and support staff.

“And to make things easier for volunteers, the simple online application process only takes around 10 minutes to complete.”

Mr de Brenni said Active Clubs would help local groups to provide high quality opportunities by having the right training and equipment to deliver programs and services so Queenslanders can participate at the grassroots level.

“It shouldn’t matter if you enjoy netball or football, cricket or croquet, track and field or triathlon, if you’re a Queenslander you should be able to get quality opportunities to participate at your local club,” he said.

“This program is a key element of Activate! Queensland – the State’s first 10-year plan to get more Queenslanders more active, more often,” he said.

Clubs can apply for funding here: www.qld.gov.au/activeclubs

The program opens on 17 October 2019 and closes on 15 November 2019.
