Robot Lawyers is a free service for people pleading guilty to minor traffic or criminal charges and who cannot afford a lawyer or access legal services at court.
Robot Lawyers acts as a client’s virtual assistant and assists them in telling their story clearly, in a stressful court setting.
During the development of Robot Lawyers we had a number of discussions with those working in the community sector. The feedback indicated that the service would be very useful in the CLC setting, particularly where CLCs don’t have the resources to represent clients in court for minor driving and criminal charges. It was said that the Robot Lawyers questionnaire could be filled out with the client, while present at the CLC, then emailed and printed at the CLC. This will overcome some of the limitations inherent in a process like Robot Lawyers (i.e. the need for internet access and a printer).
