“Lake Neverfill” – Campbell’s Dam – Roma

Lake Neverfill is a water sports facility and is open to the general public to use (walk-in). Kayaks, canoes, paddleboards etc. can be used on the Lake for free. However, if using the lake with any of the above items, please be aware that powered water vessels have right of way.

Powered vessels include ͏boats αnd jet skils and these vessels require full membership, prσσf σf current registration and insurance which then allows key access.

201127: Maranoa Australia Day Nominations Open – Closing 27th November

MARANOA AUSTRALIA DAY NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN

Do you know someone who has made an outstanding contribution in your community?

Maranoa Regional Council is reminding us that Australia Day nominations are now open for the Maranoa region with residents to submit nominations by Friday, 27 November 2020.

These awards are to acknowledge members of the community whose achievements deserve to be recognised at the 2021 Maranoa Australia Day Awards. T

The nine award categories include:

– Citizen of the Year Award Eligible nominees must be 26 years or older as of 26 January 2021
-Young Citizen of the Year Award Eligible nominees must be 25 years or younger as of 26 January 2021
-Community Event of the Year Nominated events must have been held in the relevant Maranoa Regional Council area between November 2019 and November 2020
-Cultural Award
-Sports Award Eligible nominees must be 26 years or older as of 26 January 2021
-Junior Sports Award Eligible nominees must be 25 years or younger as of 26 January 2021
-Member Contribution Award
-Achievement Award
– Andrea Murray Memorial Award Eligible nominees must be volunteers or employed in the disability sector.

Canasta Players Wanted!
Any adult men or women who can play, or would like to learn how to play canasta, are invited to attend the Roma QCWA Rooms, 57 Arthur Street on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1.30 until approximately 4.30pm.
$5 includes Afternoon Tea. There is a lucky door prize and a reward for player with highest score each day.
Come along and enjoy the company of like minded friends, while playing your favourite card game.

Gates will be open from 12:00 for entrants.
Scrutineering from 1:00pm.

The Australian Air Force Cadets has begun recruiting for 2020. As a cadet you’ll learn about aviation through flying, gliding, aerospace studies, communications and navigation, air traffic control, aeromodelling, aircraft engineering, orienteering and map reading.

Al-anon

Al-anon is a group formed to help families and friends of alcoholics recover from the effects of living with someone with a drink problem.

Al-anon Roma is held every Saturday from 6-7pm in the Justin King Centre next to the Catholic Church.  To attend, it is asked that there be a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend.
