Drought Asssistance

FURTHER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE FOR DROUGHT AFFECTED HOUSEHOLDS

Residents affected by the ongoing drought can now access additional assistance with cash and vouchers available through the Australian Government’s Drought Community Support Initiative.

The Australian Government has engaged the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul Society and Rotary Australia World Community Service to deliver the initiative. Drought affected households can access up to $3,000 per household (containing up to $2,000 in cash and $1,000 in vouchers). Households should contact these organisations directly via the following details:

CRISIS AND EMERGENCY SERVICES

Service: St Vincent de Paul – Specialist Homelessness Service

Crisis Accommodation – Cornerstone Program

To assist clients who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to access housing.
The Cornerstone program can provide information and support to access appropriate services. Cornerstone provides a service which cares for people through self-development and empowerment and assists the in the development of a new found independence.
All clients who are housed in crisis accommodation are case managed. The service is offered to men, women and families.

 

HOUSING SERVICES

Service: St Vincent de Paul – Community Housing

Community Housing
To provide affordable, safe long term community housing for families and individuals.
To be eligible for long term housing in these properties, applicants must meet the One Social Housing Criteria as determined by the Department of Housing and Public Works and have a current One Social Housing application.
St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland – Housing Program is a not-for-profit community housing provider in Queensland. The Society’s Housing Program seeks to provide assistance to people who are homeless, or those who are at risk of becoming homeless, by providing a variety of housing solutions.

 

Our office at 80 McDowell St is open and manned five days a week from 8.30am till 5.00pm
